Extreme 4s Power
Jato 4X4 packs the same Velineon 540XL 2400kv brushless motor (#3461) found in the Maxx extreme monster truck. It’s the largest motor Traxxas has ever offered in a buggy, and it’s backed by a new VXL-4s Electronic Speed Control (#3445) with built-in telemetry and selectable 6.0 or 7.4-volt BEC. With 4s LiPo power on tap, Jato 4X4 VXL defies the laws of physics as it rockets its way to 60 mph and beyond with unrelenting acceleration.
Track-Ready Handling
Jato 4X4 VXL sits low and wide, concentrating its weight below the driveshafts for razor-sharp handling and perfect weight distribution. Aluminum XX-long GTR shocks in the front and rear maximize traction by keeping Jato 4X4 VXL’s ultra-soft Response Pro tyres in constant contact with the ground. Add the optional sway bar kit #9098 for flat cornering and game-changing track performance.
Extreme Maxx Duty 4x4 Driveline
Factory-installed Extreme Heavy Duty shaft driven driveline and suspension components give Jato 4X4 VXL all the durability of Traxxas’ toughest offroad trucks. From a Splined aluminium center shaft to aluminium 17mmHex Hubs and nuts, it doesn't get much tougher than this. An aluminum T-Bar reinforces the chassis with Extreme HD shock towers to support the suspension. Huge Maxx-Duty driveshafts transform the 540XL motor’s brutal torque into massive 4-wheel roost without breaking a sweat.
Clipless Buggy Body
Jato 4X4 VXL’s form-fitted clipless body cuts through the wind and eliminates the parachuting effect for stable performance at speed. Tough clipless side latches hold the body securely in place but release in just seconds for fast battery swaps. Jato 4X4 VXL incorporates the high-downforce wing from Sledge to keep its chassis planted with rugged rollover protection as an added benefit.
Modular Design
Traxxas have perfected the art of modular, easy to dis-assemble design. Remove a few screws and Jato 4x4 VXL comes apart in 3 chunks for easy cleaning, maintenance and repair.
Waterproof Electronics
Traxxas make their cars as waterproof as possible, with full waterproof sealing on their ESCs, servos and receiver boxes. Waterproof means rain, snow and puddles are no obstacle to RC bashing fun. (Traxxas cars are NOT submersible).
Standard 2075 Steering Servo
Traxxas' long time, all purpose #2075 servo comes into use again in Jato 4x4 VXL. With 9kg of torque and full waterproof sealing #2075 provides a crisp and reliable steering response.
Traxxas TQi Radio System
Traxxas TQi radio systems have been around for a long time and are offered in all Traxxas 3S, 4S and 6S vehicles. It provides long range and short reaction time between radio and receiver and will accept the optional #6511 Bluetooth Link for easy programming through your smartphone via the Traxxas App. Comfortable hand-feel, glitch free performance and fast frame rate, who could ask a better radio.
Traxxas Stability Management
TSM makes it easy for anyone to experience the full 60+mph 4S Velineon horsepower. TSM works in the background to help you drive better by controlling oversteer, avoid spinouts and keep the focus on high performance fun. TSM is built into the radio and receiver system and operated with the multifunction knob. Turn it up, turn it down, don't like it? turn if off.
3in Dish Buggy Wheels with Response Pro Tyres
Jato 4x4 VXL rides on 3in buggy dish wheels with 4.5in sticky S-1 compound Response Pro buggy tyres for game changing traction and control. The outside row of spikes is contoured to provide just the right amount of side bite for smooth, predictable turn-in. The wheels 17mm hex hub design creates a large contact area for extra grip to resist rounding.
Other Features
- High Downforce Wing, the same as the one used on Sledge, keeps all four wheels on the ground for maximum traction
- Heavy Duty Shock Towers with beefed up double shear link mounts and extra material will resist rollover damage and protect the upper shock caps with reinforced ridges
- Fixed Gear Mesh System takes the fiddly guesswork out of correctly meshing your spur and motor pinion gears. Motor plates have multiple preset gearing positions making changing gearing extra easy.
- T-Bar Chassis Stiffener, the same as the one in Sledge, removes torsional flex from the chassis when driving and is better than any round tube
- Aerodynamic Bulkhead Cover protects the lower suspension arm pins, provides mounting points for the optional sway bar set and gives Jato a smooth undertray for snag free running
- Maxx Duty Driveshafts, the same as the new ones Traxxas are putting in their 4S capable Maxx truck with beefed up u-joints and shaft diameter
- Torque Biasing Center Drive absorbs shocks to improve driveline durability and distributes power to all four wheels. Unlike traditional center diffs the Torque Biasing Center drive will help prevent tyre ballooning.
- GTR Shocks are the peak of racing technology. Large 13mm bores hold 70% more dampening oil than Ultra Shocks for more consistent, smoother damping while x-ring seals keep the dirt out and adjustment is as simple as turning the threaded collar
- Battery Compartment built into the chassis with a clip in battery strap protect your Lipo batteries even in the worst crashes.
- 5-Channel Receiver with Fail Safe Security built in, will store up to 30 models, so one radio to 30 cars, and will stop Jato from driving away at top speed in the event of battery failure in the radio. The receiver returns the throttle to neutral and holds the last steering position.
- Dual Steering Bellcrank Assembly with Servo saver provides zero bump steer geometry, smooth turning action and equal delivery of steering power to both front wheels whilst a heavy duty, cam style servo saver guarantees protection for the servo from impact damage.
- Extra Meaty One Piece Camber Links, really hard to damage, even in a crash, maintain the proper steering geometry and never require adjustment
- Rubber Sealed Bearings throughout; diffs, bellcrank and hubs, for minimal loss of power through friction.
- 32 Pitch Steel Gearing for extra toughness in the driveline. 32P is much less likely to strip in a crash and provides a solid gear mesh.
- Steel Differentials, extra tough to handle all that power without stripping. Crown gear, pinion, spider and sun gears, all steel.
